CORIMA x Cofidis: A great adventure begins
We are proud to welcome the Team Cofidis to the CORIMA family for the upcoming seasons. In addition to the World Tour Team, CORIMA will also sponsor the Cofidis para-cycling team and the very new women's team.
The 2022 Cofidis team will include Guillaume Martin (France), King of the Mountains at the 2021 La Vuelta; and Simone Consonni (Italy), track team pursuit Olympic gold medalist. The team has also recruited new talented riders who are already familiar with CORIMA wheels. Riders joining the Cofidis team include the Time Trial Spain champion, Ion Izagirre (Spain) who transfers from CORIMA-sponsored Astana-Premier Tech alongside the Time Trial french champion, Benjamin Thomas, who won, on the track, the World Points Race championship riding the CORIMA Paracular C+ and 4 spokes wheels.
Cédric Vasseur, General Manager, Cofidis, said:
“We are delighted to give our riders the opportunity to ride on CORIMA wheels for the next few years. CORIMA are the best wheels on the market, and this new partnership is another step for the Cofidis Team in performance research. As a UCI World Tour Team we are concerned about the level of performance of all our bike components, and we want to give the best and fastest products to our riders. We are also proud to ride on 100% French high-tech products. We are convinced that the Cofidis and CORIMA deal will give our men’s World Tour team, women’s team and para-cycling team the best range of products in all cycling disciplines, including road, track and gravel. We are excited to start racing and winning with the fastest CORIMA wheels.”
CORIMA is also proud to participate in the women's cycling development with Cofidis. For its first season, the Cofidis women’s team can count on really reliable riders. The Cofidis Women’s team will include key racing talent Rachel Neylan (Australia) - second in the 2012 road World Championships - and Pernille Mathiesen (Denmark) - U23 road and Time Trial European champion in 2017. With the Cofidis, CORIMA can compete on the most prestigious races of the UCI Women’s World Tour and hopes to participate in the comeback of the Women’s Tour de France.
Cycling for all has been a major concern for CORIMA for many years. Partnerships with the best para-cyclists of the peloton such as Florian Jouanny, three times medallist in Tokyo, helps CORIMA to design the best handbike wheels on the market. With Cofidis and the collaboration with a team exclusively composed of para-cycling athletes, offers us the opportunity to complete a new step especially in the development of our “S-Black” range dedicated to handbikes.
The partnership CORIMA & Cofidis is almost self-evident. Both are historical institutions of the cycling world and are led by the same goals: having the highest level of performance and spreading the French savoir-faire across the world. The alchemy of this collaboration can only lead to one way: success!
Raphael Jeune, Sponsoring Manager, CORIMA, said: “CORIMA and Cofidis are proud to announce a long-term partnership allowing the riders of the UCI World Tour Men’s, Women’s and Para-cycling teams to evolve to the highest level using the entire CORIMA range. Cofidis will have the opportunity to use our iconic models: MCC DX, WS Black DX, WS TT and S Black for the handbike. CORIMA is very happy to support the creation of the new professional Women’s team, and to participate in the development of the Para-cycling team. Promoting ‘Made In France’, French know-how and performance internationally alongside a team as prestigious and historic as Cofidis, is a real honor.”
